Η Valsamidis family, from Ydroussa village of Samos, was active in olive cultivation and olive oil production for the needs of the traditional household since the 18th century.
Now a day VALSAMIDIS BROSS, having inherited the love and the respect for the olive fruit, still cultivates the olive tree and operates a modern olive mill and olive oil standard in Karlovassi, Samos.
The special microclimate of Samos is suitable for the production of fine olive oil, known since the antiquity. The ancient writers - by Homer, Aeschylus and Antigiannis – were admiring Samos olive oil and praised the Samian olive oil. Continuing that tradition, Valsamidis family, integrated the cultivation of olive in their family history, utilizing modern methods of olive cultivation.
After many years of monitoring and engaging with local olive-growing, the company has decided to revive and add value to its olive oil from the local variety Thromboliia Samou.Design, system, patience, persistence, time and collaborations with specialized scientists ensure the most appropriate clones of the particular variety, resulting in a healthy development in new olive groves. At the same time, the mill has been fully renovated and since 2006has a two-phase production line where best environmental practices and olive oil production are applied in accordance with the international quality and safety standard ISO 22000The extraction of olive oil is in cold and exclusively with mechanical methods.
The early harvest, in a manual manner, and the immediate olive-oiling of the fruit ensures that the final product has the maximum fruity characteristics and the best chemical components.
The olive press is certified by the official Greek Authoritiesto producing and bottling organic olive oil, and in 2015 certified by the Agrocert certification to producing extra virgin olive oil with Samos Protected Geographical Indication (PGI)..

Valsamidis Bros has the most modern unit on the island. The process starts with two separate stages of defoliating and cleaning the fruits with water, a procedure that guarantees the grinding of a clean and free of foreign matter. The residues of this treatment, e.g. the leaves are returned to the olive grove for natural fertilization. The kneading of the olive pasta take place at a temperature below 27 °C (cold pressing), which allows the maintenance of all the nutritional and aromatic substances of the olive oil (polyphenols, vitamins, etc.).
